Interpretation of the Bible / Numbers 23:19

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

This Bible verse is a clear affirmation of God’s sovereignty and faithfulness. In this sense, it is important to understand that God is not a man, subject to the weaknesses and limitations of the human condition, who could lie or regret his decisions. Instead, God is an absolute and unchangeable person, whose words and promises are reliable and true.

This truth has been confirmed in various Bible passages, such as Titus 1:2: “in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.” Or in 2 Timothy 2:13, which says, “if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.”
