Interpretation of the Bible / John 13:16

Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

This verse carries a powerful message of humility and reminds us that we should not act superior to others. Jesus teaches them at one of the last suppers with his disciples that everyone is equal before God and that authority should not affect how we treat others.

Jesus is an example of this because, as the Son of God, He humbled himself by washing his disciples' feet, an act that only the lowest servants did at that time. Jesus shows that even though he was their Lord, there was no one inferior to Him and that everyone was equal before God.
