Interpretation of the Bible / 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
The verses in question, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, tell us about God’s will for our lives: our sanctification. Our primary job as Christians is to draw close to God and live in obedience to His commands. And here it becomes clear that a major part of that is turning away from fornication.
Before we talk about how these verses can help us in our daily lives, it’s important to define what is meant by fornication. Fornication is any sexual activity outside of marriage, whether between an unmarried couple or in a marriage in which one party is unfaithful.
This type of behavior is not approved by God, since His design for sexual relations is that they occur only in the context of marriage. Therefore, we are called to turn away from it and remain pure.
