Interpretation of the Bible / 1 Corinthians 2:11

For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

In 1 Corinthians 2, the Apostle Paul talks about the wisdom of God and how it cannot be understood by human wisdom. Verse 11 tells us the difference between human knowledge and divine knowledge. In other words, the difference between knowledge that can be gained through human reason and knowledge that can be gained through divine revelation.

Human knowledge

The human mind is wonderful and capable of many things, but there are limits to what we can know. Despite all our technological and scientific advances, we still do not fully understand many things. We often face questions to which we do not have answers. Human knowledge can tell us a great deal, but it cannot answer all questions.

The spirit of man

Paul tells us that no one knows the thoughts of a person except the spirit of that person within him. In other words, no one can know for sure what is going on in another person’s mind except the person himself. Even if someone tries to explain what he is thinking or feeling, we can never fully understand his thoughts. Only the person himself can know his thoughts.

The Spirit of God

Likewise, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. This means that only through the Holy Spirit can we truly know God and understand His divine wisdom. For this reason, it is necessary to have a personal and intimate relationship with God in order to understand His teachings and truths.
