Interpretation of the Bible / Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Isaiah 43:2 is part of the prophetic message that the prophet Isaiah gives to the people of Israel in the Old Testament. In this chapter, God promises to save His people and commits to redeem them from captivity in Babylon. The mention of fire in the verse is another metaphor for adversity. In ancient times, fire was a terrible force that could destroy everything in its path. However, the promise that we will not be burned suggests that God protects His people even in the most difficult times.
