Interpretation of the Bible / Hebrews 3:14
The book of Hebrews was written to encourage Jewish Christians to remain steadfast in their faith in Jesus Christ. In this verse, the writer calls on believers to be partakers of Christ and to firmly maintain their trust in Him from the beginning to the end.
"We have come to share in Christ" - That is, we and He have become one and have become partakers of Him as much as the body is of the head. Here he inspires them with hope, as if saying: He who loved us so much that He even made us His own body will not allow us to be torn away from Him, unless we wish. At the same time, he hints at what is said in another place: if we endure, we shall also reign with Him (2 Tim. 2:12). Being now partakers in the same things as Christ, obviously in tribulations, let us strive to be partakers then also in the word.
"If indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end" - That is, faith; for by it we exist and realize a divine and spiritual existence and regeneration. And here it requires standing firm in faith to the end.
This verse suggests that participation in Christ is a necessary condition for salvation. Faith in Christ is not merely a mental faith, but an active participation in His redemptive work. Participation in Christ includes trusting Him, following His teachings, and submitting to His will.
