SVG In Christ

Interpretation of the Bible / 2 Timothy 2:1

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Grace is a term that is often used in the Bible, but its meaning is poorly understood by many people. It is a concept that is at the heart of Christianity. Grace is an expression of God’s unmerited love, God’s favor toward all of us despite our shortcomings and sins. That is, it is a free gift that God gives us without our having to earn it.

Be strong in the grace of Christ Jesus

In 2 Timothy 2:1, Paul encourages Timothy, his disciple, to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. This is not just an exhortation for Timothy, but for all Christians. It is a direct command from God for us to seek to understand and live in the grace He has given us.

This verse tells us that grace is not something passive. It is not something we can just sit back and wait for God to do for us. Instead, we are to be diligent, active, and eager to seek, understand, and receive this grace. We are to actively work to receive all that God has for us.
