Interpretation of the Bible / 2 Corinthians 3:17
2 Corinthians 3:17 is one of the most popular verses in the Bible. It gives us a short but powerful statement about the freedom we can have in the Lord. This verse tells us that the Lord is a Spirit.
This leads us to believe that everything that has to do with God and the spiritual life happens through the Holy Spirit. This phrase is a clarification for those of us who are seeking a close relationship with God, as it encourages us to seek the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Then the verse goes on to say, “and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” This phrase means that the presence of the Holy Spirit leads us to experience true freedom. It means that those who have a personal and intimate relationship with God, those who live in His presence, have a liberty that allows them to live without the limitations of sin, fear, or distrust of God.
