Interpretation of the Bible / Psalm 16:1
The Book of Psalms contains many prayers and praises calling us to a close relationship with God, and in the first verse of chapter 16, we find a prayer of trust in God. Psalm 16:1—this prayer expresses the psalmist's complete dependence on God.
Faith in God as a source of security
The psalmist asks God to protect him because he knows that in Him he finds true security. This applies not only to earthly life but also to eternity.
In John 10:28-29, Jesus tells us, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand."
Trust in God as the foundation of our decisions
The psalmist's trust in God was not an arbitrary decision, but a conscious choice. Trust in God must be the foundation of all our decisions and actions. The Bible teaches us that man may make plans, but it is God who directs our steps (Proverbs 16:9). We must learn to trust Him and allow Him to guide our lives.
