2 Corinthians 7:10 talks about two types of sorrow: godly sorrow and worldly sorrow. Godly sorrow is the kind that leads us to repentance and salvation. It occurs when we realize that our behavior is not pleasing to God and we are willing to change.

Repentance for salvation

Repentance is a key concept in the life of every Christian; it is a decision to change the direction of our life and turn away from sin. Godly sorrow leads to repentance, and repentance leads to salvation. When we repent of our sins, confess our faith in Jesus, and accept His sacrifice, we experience the salvation He offers us.

Sorrow for the world

Sorrow for the world is the kind of sorrow that leads to nothing good; it is an empty and meaningless sorrow. It is the kind of sorrow that occurs when we lose something we consider valuable, whether it be a relationship, a job, or material possessions. This sadness can lead to anxiety and depression.

Death as a result

The verse warns us that the sorrow of the world produces death. This does not necessarily refer to physical death, but to spiritual death that separates us from God. The sorrow of the world can cause us to distance ourselves from God and become absorbed in our own problems and worries.
