Interpretation of the Bible / Romans 3:20
The Bible passage Romans 3:20 is one of the most important and significant passages in the Christian faith regarding justification and salvation. In this verse we find a fundamental statement about the relationship between the law, works, and justification.
Justification by faith
In Romans 3:20, Paul states that no one can be justified before God by the works of the law. Justification is the act of God declaring a person righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. According to Paul, this justification is not based on the works of the law, but on faith in Christ (Romans 3:28).
Knowledge of sin
Paul also says that the law is the knowledge of sin. This means that the law shows us our failure to keep the commandments of God and our need for a Savior. The law shows us our own depravity and motivates us to seek the grace and righteousness that can only be found in Christ.
