Interpretation of the Bible / John 6:57

Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

John 6:57 presents us with one of the most important teachings of the Christian faith. In this verse, Jesus explains to his disciples that He lives because of the Father and that those who eat Him will also live because of Him. Although this statement may seem mysterious at first, it actually contains a deeply spiritual message that can be applied to our daily lives.

Eat the body of Christ

To understand the meaning of John 6:57, we must go back to the context in which this teaching is stated. During the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and gave it to his disciples, saying to them, “Take, this is my body.”

In this way, Jesus hinted that His body would be sacrificed for the salvation of mankind. In this verse, Jesus reminds his disciples of this teaching and tells them that those who eat Him, that is, those who believe in Him and follow Him, will also have life in Him.

A new way of Life

Jesus' life was characterized by His unconditional love for others, His service to those most in need, and His total commitment to God's will. As Christians, we should strive to imitate the life of Christ in everything we do. This means living a life of love and service, and always seeking God's will in our decisions.
