Interpretation of the Bible / James 3:17

Kind and beneficial wisdom

The next attribute of wisdom that comes from God is its kindness and gentleness. It is a wisdom that does not seek to hurt or harm anyone. Instead, it seeks the welfare and benefit of others. It seeks to build up and comfort, not to destroy and hurt.

Wisdom full of mercy and good fruit

Another attribute of the wisdom that comes from God is mercy and good fruit. True wisdom is demonstrated in concrete actions that demonstrate concern for others and a willingness to help them. The wisdom that comes from God is not merely theoretical; it is demonstrated in concrete actions that benefit others.

Wisdom without uncertainty and hypocrisy

Finally, the author of James emphasizes that the wisdom that comes from God has neither uncertainty nor hypocrisy. It does not waver, doubt, or deceive. It is a wisdom that is based on and consistent with the truth.
