Interpretation of the Bible / Revelation 22:12
The Book of Revelation is one of the most fascinating books in the Bible, filled with prophecies, symbolism, and apocalyptic messages that have intrigued Bible scholars for centuries.
The verse in question is at the end of the book and shows that Jesus is talking about his second coming and the reward we will receive for our works. This verse challenges us to reflect on our lives, our actions, and how we live in preparation for Christ's return.
The promise of Christ
"Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done." This phrase is Christ's promise that he will soon return to reward us for our works. This reward can be either positive or negative, depending on our actions in this earthly life. Therefore, it is important for each of us to examine our lives, evaluate our actions, and decide whether they are in line with God's will.
Our reward
The reward we receive from Christ is not material or earthly, but spiritual. It is a reward based on our actions, which could be a crown of life, a place in heaven, election to be a priest of God, etc. These rewards are available to all who commit themselves to doing God’s will and live godly lives in the world today.
A call to reflect
This verse calls us to ask ourselves how we live. Are we committed to doing God’s will? Are we living godly lives? Are we dedicating our resources and time to helping those in need? We cannot underestimate the importance of our actions. Every action we take can impact our ultimate reward.
The need to act
The fact that Christ promises that He will come soon means that there is no time to waste. We need to act quickly to repent of our sins and commit our lives to doing God’s will.
We must not delay our conversion or commitment to a more godly life. The coming of Christ will be imminent, and we must be ready for that moment.
