Interpretation of the Bible / Judges 1:1

After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, “Who of us is to go up first to fight against the Canaanites?”

Judges 1:1 presents us with a critical moment in the history of the children of Israel. Joshua, their leader, has died, and the tribes are concerned about how they will continue to live in the land God promised them, especially when there are still dangerous enemies to fight. That is why the children of Israel turn to the Lord for guidance, asking who will be the first to fight the Canaanites.

This verse shows us the importance of seeking divine guidance in difficult times. It is easy and human to worry about the problems we face and think that we can solve them on our own. However, the only way to get the best solution is to turn to God for help, especially when it comes to important decisions.

We, as children of God, can also learn from this biblical example and make sure that we seek divine guidance in our daily lives. When we have to make important decisions, we should ask God to show us the best way and be open to His answer, even if it is not what we expected.
