SVG In Christ

Interpretation of the Bible / Ephesians 4:15

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

To understand the meaning of a verse in the Bible, it is important to read it in context. Ephesians 4 is a letter written by the apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus. In it, Paul encourages Christians to live according to the grace of God that they have received through Jesus Christ. In verse 15, Paul shows how this is possible: speaking the truth in love.

Truth in love

In many cases, we may think that truth and love are incompatible. We may believe that telling the truth can hurt someone or that loving someone means not telling them the whole truth. However, this is not the approach that Christianity teaches.

Truth and love complement each other and should always be together. To grow in this direction, we must pursue a life of truth in love.

Growing in Christ

The goal of speaking the truth in love, according to Ephesians 4:15, is to grow into the One who is the Head, Christ. This means that by following a life of truth and love, we draw closer to Jesus Christ. Our growth as Christians depends on how we follow this truth.
