Interpretation of the Bible / Romans 11:36

For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Romans 11:36 reminds us that all things come from God, through Him, and for Him. This verse is part of Paul’s book of Romans 11, which introduces the idea that God was faithful to His promise of salvation for both Jews and Gentiles.

All things come from God

The first thing that stands out about this verse is that all things come from God. This means that everything that exists, from the universe to life on earth, is the creation of God. He is the Creator of all things visible and invisible. Psalm 24:1 also tells us that the earth and everything on it belongs to God.

Our lives, our talents, our resources, and everything we can enjoy in this world are gifts from God. We must realize that we cannot take credit for everything we possess, but we must acknowledge that everything comes from God.

All things through Him

The second point this verse emphasizes is that all things are through Him. Everything that was created has a purpose and a reason for being. The purpose and reason for all things are established by God.

Moreover, this verse also reminds us that everything we do should be for the glory of God. Everything we have to offer God should be done with the intention of honoring Him and exalting His name. In 1 Corinthians 10:31, Paul writes, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

All things for Him

The third point this verse emphasizes is that all things are for Him. Everything that exists has an eternal purpose established by God. This means that ultimately, all of creation is meant to glorify God. This applies not only to the present, but also to the future.

Revelation 21:1 describes how God will be all in all. This means that all of creation will be completely transformed for His glory and honor. As followers of Christ, we are called to cooperate in fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives and the world around us.
