Interpretation of the Bible / Acts 17:30
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
Acts 17:30 highlights the importance of repentance in the Christian life. In this passage, the Apostle Paul is preaching in Athens and telling the Greeks about the true God and His message. He teaches them that God has forgotten the times of ignorance, but now asks them to repent of their sins.
What is repentance?
Repentance is a change in mindset and direction. It is the realization that we have been living contrary to God's will and a decision to change our course. Repentance is not only feeling sorry for our sins, but also making a decision to turn from them and make amends.
