Interpretation of the Bible / Ecclesiastes 7:10

Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions.

The Book of Ecclesiastes is considered one of the philosophical books of the Bible. Its author, Solomon, reflects on the futility of life, the meaning of existence, and the search for wisdom. In chapter seven, the author discusses the wisdom necessary for life and emphasizes the importance of not dwelling on the past.

Interpretation of the verse

Ecclesiastes 7:10 warns us against the temptation to look back with nostalgia and think that the past was better than the present. According to the author, such an approach is unwise, as it prevents us from viewing reality objectively. Instead of lamenting the past, we should focus on the present and future and make wise and correct decisions in our lives.
