Interpretation of the Bible / Luke 12:48

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

Luke 12:48 is found in the context of Jesus’ teaching on watchfulness and service in the Kingdom of God. In this passage, Jesus emphasizes the responsibility of those who have been entrusted with much. Those who have been given more, whether knowledge, skills, or resources, are called to be better stewards of what they have been given and to use it responsibly.

Interpretation of the verse

In this verse, Jesus speaks of the responsibility we have as followers of Christ to use our abilities, resources, and knowledge wisely to serve God and others.

This verse makes it clear that those who have been given much will be required to do much in terms of stewardship and responsibility. This means that we must be diligent in using what we have been given to serve God and others, and avoid complacency and laziness.
