Interpretation of the Bible / Luke 6:33
Luke 6:33 is a call to action for all Christians. It calls us to do good not only to those who treat us well, but also to those who treat us badly.
Do good to others
Doing good to others is an important part of Christianity. Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Loving others is certainly one of the hallmarks of Christians. By doing good to others, we imitate the love of Jesus and put biblical teaching into practice.
However, Luke 6:33 calls us to do good even to those who treat us badly. Jesus taught us not only to do good to those who do good to us, but to love even our enemies (Matthew 5:44). Love for others does not discriminate between good and evil, righteousness and injustice; it always seeks to do good.
