Interpretation of the Bible / 1 Peter 3:14

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”

Justice is a recurring theme in the Bible that deals with the idea of doing what is right and fair according to God’s principles. Therefore, justice is important not only to the God we worship, but also to the society we live in.

In other words, justice is an important element that allows people to live in harmony and equality. In this sense, 1 Peter 3:14 refers to the blessings we will receive if we suffer for righteousness’ sake.

Why are we blessed if we suffer for righteousness’ sake?

The verse says that we will be blessed if we suffer for righteousness’ sake. The word “blessed” refers to blessing from God and to living a full life in peace and a harmonious relationship with Him. That is, the suffering that may come with righteousness is not a hindrance to living a full life.

On the other hand, the suffering we may experience in our lives as a result of doing what is right does not make us less valuable in the eyes of God. On the contrary, if we are persecuted for doing what is right and are committed to justice, our “reward” in eternal life will be greater.
