Interpretation of the Bible / 1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.

1 Timothy 2:5 is one of the most important verses in the Bible and helps us understand the role of Jesus Christ as the mediator between God and people.

Who is a mediator?

Before we understand the role of Jesus Christ as a mediator, it is important to understand what a mediator is in the biblical sense. A mediator is someone who acts as an intermediary between two parties. In the context of the Bible, a mediator is someone who acts as a bridge between God and people.

Jesus Christ, the only mediator

1 Timothy 2:5 clearly states that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and people. This means that there are no other mediators, saints, or angels who can intercede for us before God. Only Jesus can do this because He paid for our sins with His own blood. He is the only one who can reconcile us to God.
