Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that "the tongue has the power of life and death," and James 3:5-6 compares the tongue to a fire capable of kindling a raging flame.

Furthermore, our words reveal what is in our hearts. Jesus said in Matthew 12:34, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Therefore, if we want to live a righteous life that is pleasing to God, we need to control our words and always speak to the glory of God.
