Interpretation of the Bible / Deuteronomy 6:6-7

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us of the importance of the words of the Bible. These verses tell us that these words must be in our hearts, not just in our minds. In other words, it's not enough to simply read the Bible and memorize its verses; we must internalize its meaning and apply its teachings in our daily lives.

Why is it important to teach children faith?

God always intended for His commandments to be passed down from generation to generation, and this includes faith in Him. Teaching our children faith is crucial so that the next generation clearly understands the importance of following God. Moreover, by teaching our children faith, we can guide them toward a deep and meaningful relationship with God from an early age.

How can we teach our children faith?

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 gives us guidance on how to teach children faith. We should repeat God's instructions to them and talk about them at home, in their daily lives, before bed, and upon awakening. We must purposefully teach them about God and His love for humanity.

Teaching children about faith also means telling them about our own experiences of faith. We must share our personal stories of how God has transformed us and how our faith has changed our lives for the better. This will help them see faith as something human and accessible, not something distant and intangible.
