Interpretation of the Bible / 1 Corinthians 15:21

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

Death is a very important topic in the Bible, beginning with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. 1 Corinthians 15:21 talks about how death came into the world through a man, referring to Adam who sinned and disobeyed God. However, the same scripture also says that through a man the resurrection of the dead is possible.

The atoning work of Jesus Christ

The man who brought the resurrection of the dead to mankind is Jesus Christ, who through his life, death, and resurrection provides us with salvation and forgiveness for our sins. Jesus' death on the cross at Calvary was not only part of God's plan for our salvation, but also the fulfillment of God's law, which shows that the penalty for sin is death.

For this reason, Jesus accepted death on the cross as the perfect and sufficient sacrifice to pay the price for our sins and thus enable us to have eternal life with Him in heaven. His resurrection is tangible evidence of His victory over death and the devil, and gives us confidence in our own resurrection in Christ.

Hope of the resurrection

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can now hope for an afterlife where we will be with our Creator and loved ones who have also accepted Christ as their Savior. The resurrection of the dead is a theme of great importance in the Christian faith, giving us hope for a glorious and eternal future in the presence of our Lord.

This truth is especially comforting to those who have lost a loved one, as they can hope to be reunited with them in heaven. Moreover, it calls us to live our lives with the goal of living forever with God, knowing that our life on earth is but a short step compared to eternity.
