However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Luke 10:20 encourages us to think about life and the destiny of man after death. This verse occurs in the context of Jesus sending out the seventy disciples to preach the gospel to the surrounding towns and returning with the report that the spirits were obeying them.

When Jesus heard this, he told them to rejoice not in the power they had gained, but in the fact that their names were written in heaven. Faith in God, accepting Jesus as our Savior, consistent good works, and loving others are the keys to having our names written in heaven.
