Interpretation of the Bible / Matthew 16:27

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.

Matthew 16:27 speaks of the Last Judgment, an event where people will be judged by God. The Bible is clear about this event and how God will reward each person according to their deeds. The Last Judgment is a major theme in the Bible, mentioned many times in the New Testament.

The glory of God

The verse begins with the mention of “the glory of God,” which refers to the manifestation of His divine power. The glory of God is a recurring theme in the Bible, expressing the majesty and power of God. This verse anticipates the coming of Jesus in all the glory and power of His heavenly Father.

The coming of Jesus

The verse continues with the promise that the Son of Man will come in all His glory. This refers to the Second Coming of Jesus, which was prophesied in many parts of the Bible. Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to perform the Last Judgment and take the righteous to heaven.

The Second Coming of Jesus is a fundamental element of the Christian faith, and the fact that it is mentioned in this verse makes it even more important.

Reward according to works

The second part of the verse says that God will “he will reward each person according to what they have done.” This means that God will judge each person according to his deeds and reward him accordingly. The righteous will receive their reward in heaven, and the wicked will be punished. This verse clearly shows that salvation is achieved not only by faith, but also by good works.
