Interpretation of the Bible / Genesis 9:3-4

Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.

In Genesis 9:3-4, God tells Noah and his family that all living things are edible. This includes animals, fish, birds, as well as vegetables and plants. The approval of meat as a food is significant because it provides humans with a source of protein and nutrients necessary for both growth and survival.

Restrictions on meat consumption

The biblical passage Genesis 9:3-4 speaks of the importance of life and blood in human nutrition. God gave humans animal flesh for sustenance, but categorically forbade them from eating meat along with its life, that is, the life-giving blood. This commandment clearly demonstrates the value God places on human and animal life and teaches us respect for all forms of life.
