Interpretation of the Bible / Proverbs 10:32

The lips of the righteous know what finds favor, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.

Proverbs 10:32 is a Bible verse that tells us about the power of words and how they can impact others. This verse emphasizes the importance of having a positive attitude and using words to build others up rather than hurt them.

The power of words

The popular saying “words hurt more than actions” is true and can have a significant impact on a person’s life. Words have the power to build up or tear down a person depending on how we use them. Proverbs 10:32 encourages us to use words to build up rather than hurt.

The lips of the righteous

This verse talks about the lips of the righteous, which know how to speak pleasantly. Being righteous means not only doing the right thing, but also speaking the right thing. Righteous people use their words to build up and edify others. They think and consider how their words will impact others before they speak.

The mouth of the wicked

On the other hand, the mouth of the wicked speaks perversely. Evil people use their speech to hurt and harm others. They do not think before they speak, and may say hurtful and offensive words without realizing it.
