Interpretation of the Bible / Nehemiah 8:10

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

This verse speaks of the rebuilding of the temple and the walls of Jerusalem and the people of Israel gathering to hear the Law of God, and Nehemiah encourages them by saying that “the joy of the Lord is our strength.” This statement tells us that the source of our strength is not in ourselves, but in the joy we find in God.

In our daily lives, we can apply this verse by always remembering that the joy of God is our strength. When we are sad or discouraged, we can turn to God and find in Him the strength we need to overcome any situation. Likewise, when we celebrate accomplishments and blessings, we should remember that God is the author of all good things and that our joy in Him is the source of our true happiness.
