Interpretation of the Bible / Isaiah 41:4

Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord—with the first of them and with the last—I am he.

The book of the prophet Isaiah shows us the greatness and power of God in several passages, one of which is Isaiah 41:4. In this verse, the Lord presents Himself as the Creator of all things, the One who created and made everything from the very beginning. What does this mean for us as believers?

First of all, it shows us that, as Psalm 24:1 says, "The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it," so nothing is beyond His reach.

Who calls the generations from the beginning?

This verse also presents God as the One who calls the generations from the beginning to the end, meaning that He has been present throughout human history and will continue to be present. This is a beautiful example of His eternal and constant presence in our lives.

I, the Lord, am the first, and I will be with the last

The last part of the verse says, "I, the Lord—with the first of them and with the last—I am he," meaning that God has been with us from the beginning and will be with us in the end. He is our beginning and our end, and we can be confident that He will always be with us.
