Interpretation of the Bible / John 17:24
The Gospel of John is made up of a series of speeches and prayers that Jesus gives to his disciples before he was arrested and crucified. John 17 is known as the Priestly Prayer that Jesus gave to His disciples the night before His death. In this chapter, Jesus prays for His disciples and for those who would believe in Him through His message.
In verse 24, Jesus asks His Heavenly Father that those who have been given to Him may be with Him and see His glory. This request reflects the closeness and love that Jesus seeks with his disciples, who have been chosen by God to follow Him.
The reference to the glory that God has given Jesus is significant. The glory of God refers to His divine majesty and presence in the world. In this case, Jesus asks His heavenly Father that His disciples may witness this glory so that they may know Him more intimately.
