Interpretation of the Bible / Psalm 62:12

“And with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”

The Book of Psalms is considered one of the most poetic and emotional books in the Bible. This verse, Psalm 62:12, contains an important teaching about God's justice and mercy. This text teaches us that although God will judge each of us according to our deeds, ultimately His love and mercy will always prevail.

God's mercy

In this verse, David proclaims, "And with you, Lord, is unfailing love." Mercy is the ability to forgive or show compassion to those who have made a mistake. God possesses this virtue, and it is He who decides how to use it. Throughout the Bible, we see that God always shows His mercy to those who acknowledge their mistakes and strive to change their lives.

God's justice

David continues, saying, "You reward everyone according to what they have done." God is a just judge, and at the Last Judgment, He will evaluate our actions and decisions. Those who have done good will be rewarded, and those who have done evil will be punished. However, this does not mean that God is vengeful or cruel, but rather that He acts in accordance with the justice of His actions.

As humans, we all make mistakes and have room for improvement in our lives. It is important to remember that God is patient and merciful, but He is also just and will evaluate our actions. If we sincerely repent of our mistakes and strive to do good, we can count on God's mercy and love.

This teaching encourages us to do good and act kindly. We know that, although no one is perfect, God will judge us according to our intentions. Moreover, as Christians, we can help others understand that good deeds have a greater reward than any punishment.
