Interpretation of the Bible / Jeremiah 23:24

“Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord.

The Bible verse Jeremiah 23:24 speaks of God's omnipresence, that is, His ability to be everywhere at once. The fundamental truth of the Christian faith is that God is present in everything, always, and everywhere. This is precisely what this verse affirms.

The omnipresence of God

Jeremiah 23:24 is a stunning proclamation of God's omnipresence. He is the God present throughout the universe and at all times. There is no place God cannot see, and He fills everything with His presence. This is a wonderful and comforting truth for those who find it difficult to comprehend the fullness of God's image, or for those who feel alone and abandoned.

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul speaks of God's omnipresence in very similar words in his speech in Athens (Acts 17:27): "God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us." In this statement, Paul confirms that God is near us and that we can find Him if we seek.
