Proverbs 21:2 is a verse that challenges us to reflect on our worldview and approach to life. The first part of the verse reminds us that every path we take in life, every decision we make, is judged by ourselves.

In other words, the only person who can judge the rightness of our actions is ourselves. However, the second part of the verse reminds us of a higher truth: only God can truly evaluate our hearts.

Why is self-esteem important?

Self-esteem is an important process that allows us to reflect on our thoughts, words, and actions. Self-esteem involves honest and critical self-reflection and helps us identify our strengths and weaknesses.

As this verse states, everyone considers themselves righteous in their own way. However, our perception of reality is often biased and limited, and we easily overlook our mistakes and failures. Self-esteem allows us to see our actions and decisions from a broader, more objective perspective, and therefore, to see the world around us.

Why can only God evaluate our hearts?

The second part of Proverbs 21:2 reminds us of a fundamental truth: only God can truly judge human hearts. We often evaluate ourselves and others based on our own standards and judgments. But only God has a full and profound view of our actions and thoughts, our motives and desires.

Our self-assessment must be based on divine discernment and wisdom. When evaluating ourselves, we must do so according to God's standards and acknowledge our weaknesses and shortcomings. This doesn't mean we should judge ourselves harshly, but rather that we must be honest with ourselves and with God.
