And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and obey him.”

The Book of Joshua tells the story of the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua after the death of Moses. Joshua was a pious and faithful man of God, charged with leading the people of Israel to the Promised Land and conquering it by force.

Obedience to God's voice means paying attention to what He speaks to us through His Word and Spirit and acting accordingly. It is an active and conscious response to God's will for our lives.
