Interpretation of the Bible / Proverbs 10:17

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

Wisdom is one of the fundamental themes of the Bible, and it is closely related to the instruction we receive from those more experienced. In the book of Proverbs, we find many verses that encourage us to follow instruction, and verse 10:17 is one of them. Instruction is knowledge we receive from others that teaches us how to deal with specific situations and make better decisions in our lives.

What does it mean to keep instruction?

Instruction is like a path that guides us through life, pointing us in the right direction and helping us avoid mistakes that can harm us. Following instruction means receiving and applying the knowledge we receive from others, and not only that, but also listening to and accepting correction from those who care about our well-being.

Rejecting correction leads to error

Anyone who rejects correction and suppresses their pride and desire to always be right is making a mistake. We must not forget that we are human and are all prone to make mistakes. Accepting correction and learning from it helps us grow as individuals and become better every day.
