SVG In Christ

Interpretation of the Bible / Luke 6:22

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

Luke 6:22 is part of Jesus’ famous “Sermon on the Mount,” where He teaches His disciples and the people how they should live. In this verse, Jesus talks about the persecution and suffering that people will face for following His teachings.

What does it mean to be blessed?

The word “blessed” means to be happy or to have great joy. In this case, Jesus is saying that even if we are persecuted and rejected for His sake, we can find happiness and joy in that situation.

Why does Jesus say that we will be persecuted?

Jesus knew that His message would not be accepted by everyone. In fact, He knew that many would hate Him for it. But He taught the truth and gave His life for it anyway. As we follow Jesus and live His teachings, we may face opposition and persecution from those who disagree with us.
