Interpretation of the Bible / James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
In the context of James 1:27, the idea of religion is not only what we do in church, but also in all the actions we take in our daily lives. Visiting orphans and widows is a sign of solidarity and love for the most vulnerable members of society.
Being unspotted from the world means staying away from worldly practices and adhering to Christian principles. We should strive to stay away from sin and temptation, as they can lead us away from God. We should also always be mindful of our actions so that we can be role models for those around us.
