Interpretation of the Bible / 1 John 3:1
1 John 3:1 shows us how God’s love has allowed us to be called children of God. This great love allows us to have a close and personal relationship with our Creator. However, God’s love is often misunderstood by the world, and for this reason the world does not recognize us as children of God.
Why is God’s love so important?
God’s love is important because it is the foundation of our Christian faith. According to John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
It is because of this sacrifice of love that God has made for us that we can have a personal relationship with Him and be called His children. God’s love assures us that we are not alone and that He will always be with us, in good times and bad.
Why doesn’t the world know us?
The world doesn’t know us because it doesn’t know God. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”
The only way to understand God’s love is through the Holy Spirit. The world often sees it as an abstract idea or just another religious belief, but they do not understand the depth and reality of God’s love.
