Interpretation of the Bible / Proverbs 2:7
The book of Proverbs is famous for its wisdom, and in verse 7 of chapter 2, it speaks of God as the one who gives sound wisdom to the righteous. But what does it mean to be righteous? In other words, a righteous person is one who keeps the laws and does what is right. The term implies honesty and integrity, one who does not stray from the right path.
The sound wisdom of God
This verse reminds us that God is the one who gives sound wisdom to the righteous. The wisdom that God gives is different from the wisdom of this world, which focuses on knowledge and intellect. God’s wisdom focuses on character and relationship with Him. It is a wisdom that comes down from above and leads us to live righteously.
Shield and protection
In addition to being the giver of wisdom, God is our shield and protection. This verse says that He is a shield to those who walk in integrity. This means that those who maintain their integrity and follow God's way are under His protection. God protects us from the temptations of the world and helps us to remain firm in the faith.
