Interpretation of the Bible / John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14 is one of the most important verses in the Bible because it talks about the incarnation of the Word. John calls Jesus the Word, the eternal Word of God, the second person of the Trinity. The fact that the Word became flesh means that Jesus came down from heaven and became a man living among us.

The Grace and Truth of Jesus

John emphasizes that Jesus was full of grace and truth. Grace is God’s unmerited love that gives us salvation. Through Jesus, God gave His love and forgiveness to the world. And truth refers to the message of Jesus, which is God’s truth for humanity. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus not only spoke the truth, but lived it.

The Glory of Jesus

John also says that they saw the glory of Jesus, like the glory of the only Son of the Father. The glory of Jesus is His divinity, His perfection, and His power, demonstrated in His life and ministry. The glory of Jesus is what made the disciples believe in Him. The glory of Jesus is the reason He is still talked about all over the world centuries later.
