Interpretation of the Bible / John 14:13
John 14:13 is a promise from Jesus Christ to His disciples before His crucifixion and resurrection. It is a powerful and encouraging promise that has given comfort and strength to believers throughout the centuries.
Asking in Jesus’ Name
Jesus specifically said that prayer should be offered in His name. This does not mean that we should use His name in every prayer, but rather that our prayers should be offered in accordance with His character and will. By making Jesus our mediator with the Father, our prayers receive greater attention from God.
Often people may be untrustworthy of prayer because they feel that God is not listening. But God’s promises are sure, and this promise from Jesus is a reminder that if we pray according to His will, we can expect to receive answers to our prayers.
Glorifying the Father
The primary purpose of answering our prayers is to glorify the Father in the Son. When our prayers are answered, God gives us recognition and kindness for our faithfulness to Him. As with everything we do in life, our goal should be to glorify God and let Him know that we love and respect Him.
