Interpretation of the Bible / 2 Peter 2:9
If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
2 Peter 2:9 tells us about God’s ability to deliver us from temptation and to punish those who live unjustly. This passage shows us how important it is to trust in God’s grace and His will to succeed in times when our decisions are tested.
This verse is found in the context of the apostle Peter’s call to Christians to be alert to false teachers and their deceptions. Peter is calling them not to follow his teachings because it will have serious consequences for their lives.
In this sense, the verse tells us to be vigilant and to seek God’s help to overcome temptations and obstacles that arise in our lives. God’s will is our strength in times of weakness and it is this that will help us to remain steadfast in His way.
