Interpretation of the Bible / Numbers 15:39
You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes.
In this verse, God commands the Israelites to wear fringes hanging from the hem of their garments as a constant reminder of their commitment to God’s commands. In this way, every time they looked at one another, they would remember their duty and responsibility to obey God rather than follow their natural instincts, which could lead them to commit ungodly acts.
This verse also invites us Christians to reflect on our relationship with God and how we can strengthen it. Each of us has a responsibility to follow God’s commands and remember His love and presence in our lives. Likewise, you should practice this at all times and in all places to avoid the temptation to fall into sin or follow your natural instincts instead of obeying God.
