My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.

In this verse, the psalmist expresses his gratitude and joy to God for his deliverance. The psalmist’s lips will rejoice when he sings to the Lord, and his soul will rejoice in the deliverance he has received.

The importance of joy in faith

Joy is an important emotion in the Christian life. The Bible teaches us that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10) and that we are to rejoice in the Lord always (Philippians 4:4).

When the psalmist says that his lips will rejoice when he sings to God, he is showing us that his worship is an expression of joy and gratitude to God. This reminds us that our worship should also be an expression of joy and gratitude to God.
