Interpretation of the Bible / Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”

The Bible verse in Isaiah 1:18 calls us to be right with God despite our sins. The Lord calls us to truth and justice, giving us the opportunity to receive forgiveness and redemption for our evil actions. In these times of uncertainty, it is comforting to know that God gives us an open door to salvation and redemption.

What does it mean to be reasonable?

The expression “reasonable” means to be honest and sincere with God and our fellow men, to accept our mistakes and sins and ask for forgiveness. It means to admit what we have done wrong without trying to hide or justify our bad actions. God calls us to honesty and humility, recognizing that we are imperfect and need His help to overcome our problems.

Grana and snow as metaphors

This verse also uses powerful metaphors to explain how God can cleanse our sins. Grana is a dark red dye that was used in ancient times to dye wool and fabrics. Snow is an image of purity and whiteness. God invites us to leave our sins, which can be as strong as crimson, so that He can transform them into purity, like white snow.
