Interpretation of the Bible / 2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

The Bible speaks to us about life after death many times, and one of the verses that reflects this idea is 2 Corinthians 5:1. This passage tells us of the assurance that even if our earthly home (our body) disappears, we will have an eternal home in heaven built by God Himself.

Meaning of the verse

This passage tells us of the assurance that after we die, we will have an eternal home in heaven. Our body is compared to a tabernacle or temporary dwelling that will eventually disappear. However, we have hope that God has prepared an eternal home for us that is beyond anything we can imagine.

It is important to note that this is not a physical home, but a spiritual home. This home is about our relationship with God and the eternal life we will have in His presence. 2 Corinthians 5:1 is not talking to us about a physical place in heaven, but about the assurance we as believers have that we will be with God for all eternity.
