Interpretation of the Bible / Hebrews 1:3

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Hebrews 1:3 gives us a clear picture of the deity of Jesus Christ. He is described as “the brightness of His glory,” meaning that He radiates and reflects the light and glory of God. He is also described as “the reflection of His person,” meaning that Jesus Christ is the supreme and exact representation of God Himself.

Furthermore, this verse says that Jesus Christ “upholds all things by the word of His power.” Here we see that Jesus Christ has complete authority and control over everything in the universe. It is by His power that everything exists and is sustained.

The passage also talks about how Jesus Christ “made atonement for our sins by Himself.” Here we are reminded that Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was the payment for our sins. He took the burden of our sins upon Himself so that we could be cleansed and restored to a relationship with God.

The verse ends by mentioning that Jesus Christ sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. This is a reference to the position of Jesus Christ at the right hand of God the Father, indicating His supremacy and authority in heaven.

This verse, like many others in the Bible, shows us the deity and power of Jesus Christ, as well as His role in our salvation.
